China–USrelation:DanglingbetweenfriendsandrivalsToday,withagloomingeconomyandrisingstatusamongallcountries,China,thebiggestdevelopingeconomyandlargestpopulationowner,isfacingmorechallengeseverbefore.US,thelargestimportnationandperhapsmostprosperouscountry.Therelationbetweenthebigtwoisofgreatsignificancetothewholeglobe.In1972,theannouncementofChina-USjointcommuniquéproclaimedtheofficialthresholdofdiplomaticnormalization.Thelong-lastinghostilestatusbegantomelt.Thirtyyearslater,thetiebetweenthetwonationsbecomesincreasinglyintricate.Ononehand,theconcretebenefitgeneratefromthetwocountries’complementaryeconomyhasbroughtthemeverdependentoneachotherthananyperiodoftimebefore.Ontheotherhand,thedifferenceofpoliticstatus,nation’sdevelopingorientationandideologyofcivilizationcreatesconstantconflictsandargumentsthatintervenesthebondfrombecomingtighter.Whenconsiderintheoverallsituation,ChinaandUSactslikefriendsandrivals.Theirmutualattitudeisinfluencedbyinterestandideology.Therelationshipdevelopsinameanderwayastimegoesby.Economicaffairisthebiggestissueamongcountries.Withthehelpofopenandreformpolicy,basedonnaturaladvantagesofmineralandcheaphumanworkforce,Chinasucksinhugeamountoffundsindevelopingitsinternaleconomywhileexportsnumerouskindsofcargostothewholeglobe.BoththeUSandChinabenefitalotaftermutualcomplementaryeconomicrelationformed.Butthatdoesnotmeanthewhole.Conflictandtensionariseswhentradesurplusoccurs,alsowithseveralinterestgroups’malevolentattitudestowardsamoreprosperousChina.Theanti-dumpingaccusation,high-techexportprohibitionandchargeofcurrencymanipulatortowardsChinarevealsrapaciousthirstofinterestUSholdsindevelopingrelationsbetweencountries.ThemutablepoliciesthatAmericangovernmentissuealsohaveanimpactonpublicrelationsThebigtwohavetheirownuniquewayindealingwithpoliticmatters.Thoughthepoliticideologyofsocialstatusdifferssharply,ChinaandtheUShavetoseekcooperationindealingwithregionalaffairsinordertoprotectnation’sownsafetyandinterest.TheNorthKoreanuclearincidentissuchanoccurrencethatrequiresmultilateralmutualcooperation.Ontheotherhand,inseekingglobalhegemony,shiftinginternalconflictsoutwardandsatisfyingthelustofcapitalism,USviewshimselfastheleaderoftheworld,constantlyattemptingtograbinterestfrominferiorcountriesandrespondfiercelywhenbeingintruded.ThisisabigdivergencefromChina’scurrentpolicy.Weseekpeaceful,reciprocalanddeferentialrelationbetweennations.DrivenbytheprofitandpoliticalbenefitwhileputtingChina’scoreinterestintoignorance,US‘smilitarysaletoTaiwanandunjustifiedperspectiveinTibethasdrawsignificantimpacto...
